Happy Women's Day!

Cambodia seems to have a national holiday every few days... really, it's nuts. And then, those holidays get extended to pretty much take over the whole calendar. Khmer New Year is coming up, which is just a 3 or 4 day holiday yet many people are going home to celebrate from April 5-20th!

There are soooo many holidays celebrated in Cambodia and all of the cities shut down. Makes for high productivity ;-) One of the holidays celebrated here is Women's Day, but I wont complain about that one! This Thursday was Women's Day, and it gave me a chance to reflect on all of the hard working inspirational women who have supported me and helped create PEPY. The friendships of these women (and men!) who have founded and worked every day to create an organization we all can be proud of are some of the best things I personally have gotten out of this experience.

Happy Women's Day, or week, or however long you celebrate your holidays. And don't forget another great holiday, in Japan March 14th is Sweethearts Day, a day when men are supposed to give women chocolates. This is a great month to remember all the amazing women in your life! Ciao!

PS - Tomorrow we have our first college group coming for a week long tour. A group from Austin College had visited the PEPY office and CCF with us a few months back, but this group coming tomorrow, from Notre Dame, will be with us for 8 days from Phnom Penh up to the PEPY school in Siem Reap. It should be a great trip and we look forward to having them here!

Daniela, I think its wonderful what you're doing. The reason I'm writing is because it must be very frustrating to have no relpies to your blog, don't despair. If I'm reading it, I am sure there are others as well.

And happy belated International Women's Day. March 8th is celebrated almost everywhere except the US. There is a good poster on the subject by the Guerilla Girls...
